Hey, all. Bad times for Woodinville.

Things were going pretty steadily... Our study events felt a little weaker this year, but we have an amazing (*amazing*) builder and some really dedicated bio nerds. But overall, progress was slow... and then it got so, so much worse. Four people dropped in the same week, including two of our four returning team members because of a jazz concert. Then, we got an e-mail informing us that we were put in the wrong division/rotation (I was suspicious when we got X this year, since we always got Y. I was right.), and so now everyone has conflicts in their events...and we're trying to fill in gaps as it is. We have one more meeting before our competition and can't really organize for more.

To top it off, I got information from my own life and I can't even fill in as an extra. I had some discussion earlier this season about whether or not I should be on the team, and now I flat out can't even attend the regionals. What a cruddy team captain I am.

I feel like I've failed everyone and made a joke out of my captaining year. I should have tried harder, I should have tested more and pressed more on preparation. I didn't want to make people feel pressured (a lot of underclassmen and I think I intimidated some of them) but in return I failed the team. I just hope that everyone can learn from me next year.

I know that feeling of letting down your team. Just keep in mind that they will remember all the work that you've done for them, rather than the things that messed up that were beyond your control. Just because things went wrong for one competition, or even several, doesn't erase all of the effort you've put into your team.
