While many move out for college, there are some old teammates of mine who attend local colleges who still help out on the team. Keep in mind that that's always an option if you fall into that situation. I'm taking that approach myself, while simultaneously participating in Division D next year. My brother and friend from my team (who are also graduating) are thinking of volunteering with me at Oakton and at ISO State next season, and we're already planning for it! So yea, for those of you who are seniors next season, know you can still do Science Olympiad after high school :) .

Well, the school I'm going next year has a varsity and junior varsity team.
They usually make it to states, but I noticed that I won't get the chance to go to states. :( :x

? Why is that? If it's because of the JV thing note that most teams bring a Spirit team for trial events ;) (2 silvers at state thanks to these)

YES! I have on my wall rn 2 big silver medals from ISO state because our school does "spirit team" in which you can compete in trial events :) That's why I asked what school you're from because some schools don't do that  (Although most do)

This is my first year in div C so I have had experience with this. Going into the year I didn't really think I could make the main team. We have 3 teams overall and I would've been happy with just the 3rd team. I gave the effort into tryouts and somehow made the 2nd team even though I didn't make my main events. I spent alotta effort (mostly by myself, my partners kept changing) and constantly outperformed the main team in all my events. Some people on the main team underperformed and when states came, I made the states team with 2 other people (one who was another freshman).

Don't give up, just give it all your effort and when you outperform the people on varsity, they might make a last second decision to put you on varsity. I don't know how your system works but at the very least, you'll have the experience to make it next year

I didn't see this when I typed this but yes you can still participate but only in certain events that arnt counted if you come. Of course theres only generally 3 trials (at least in NY) and there's gonna be competition for those spots

Also for our school at least we have people on the team do the trials, however we do bring along some people to help out (or mostly to let them enjoy the experience as well)

If your team is unstacked, two teams can participate at states, but that isn't generally advised. Most schools bring one team and allow others to compete in trial events as alternates.
