Tournaments on a Wednesday? What is this sorcery? Is it because saturdays are for the boys?Anomaly wrote:Good luck to everyone competing in SE regionals today!

Historically, most PA regionals have been on weekdays. I'm sure there are reasons, though I'm not knowledgeable enough to say exactly what they are.Alex-RCHS wrote:Tournaments on a Wednesday? Re: Pennsylvania 2018
From what I've heard:
B:
1. Bala Cynwyd
2. Garnet Valley
3. Strath Haven
4. Stetson
C:
1. Harriton
2. Lower Merion
3. Conestoga
4. Rustin
I don't know how accurate these are, and I know i'm missing a lot, but these seem very surprising to me. Rustin's 4th place finish? Strath Haven in 3rd? Stay tuned for more information (not from me though)

There is a belief that fewer will attend if they don't get out of a day of school.EastStroudsburg13 wrote:Historically, most PA regionals have been on weekdays. Wow Shipley jumped from 25th to making States, I can't wait to see how they improve in the future.GoldenKnight1 wrote:There is a belief that fewer will attend if they don't get out of a day of school.EastStroudsburg13 wrote:Historically, most PA regionals have been on weekdays. Re: Pennsylvania 2018
To shed some light on the results, medal counts from the top 6 C division teams from what I counted:
Harriton: 21
LM: 17
Stoga: 16
Rustin: 15
Penncrest: 9
North Penn: 4
I might've missed some, so correct me if I'm wrong. Of course, it'll be more clear how it all shakes out when the results come out tomorrow.

Re: Pennsylvania 2018
I have LM with 17 and Harriton with 21, didn't track anyone outside of the top 5 though so idk about North Penn.IcsTam wrote:To shed some light on the results, medal counts from the top 6 C division teams from what I counted:

Re: Pennsylvania 2018
My initial impressions:
Harriton looks like a clear first, as expected. I figure 2nd through 4th were all close score-wise; we'll have to wait until scores are released, of course, but it looks like this is going to be a close race for states (as is generally expected).
Was mildly surprised to see CB South not in the top 10, but especially hyped that Shipley made states! They went from 33rd in 2016 to 25th in 2017, and now all the way up to 8th. I'm very excited to see how they perform at states this year (assuming the 8 spots is official), and I hope the experience helps them keep building for the future!
Also cool to see Upper Dublin rising from 18th to 14th and now 9th. They've made states before, but it was over a decade ago; perhaps a return is in the cards sooner rather than later!
As for B, I was mildly surprised that both BC and GV beat Strath, but I feel like that was a close race as well; pending scores, I think they'll all be close to each other once again when states rolls around. Good job by Stetson too with their best result since 2012; it'll be intriguing where they place at states as well. Also cool to see Haverford return to states for the first time since 2011.
