Your frame could be flexing slightly. Try changing the place on the axle where the string pulls. Mess around with it a little and you might fix it.
Is that how you fixed your curving issue? I never thought that the placement of the string would have an effect on the curving
It could have an effect if your car has other issues. For us, we think that our car is too fast and that some of the wheels are shifting off the ground. The place on the axle where you pull could make a difference in this instance. But if your wheels all stay firmly on the ground without any horizontal shifting then it can’t make a difference.

I thought I’d share this here since my season ended at NY states a while ago. This is my analysis of what happened to my vehicle at states and what caused it to mess up so it’s not specifically a reveal video but it does show my mousetrap vehicle and shows it running. When my vehicle performed properly, its' scores ranged from 20 to high single digits. Enjoy!

I am very sorry about what happened to you at states. I wondering if you could share some information your wheels( the big and small ones) and how you made your frame

Sure, no problem. I had CADded and 3D printed the entire chassis and wheels. In fact, the only non-custom thing on my mousetrap vehicle was the mousetrap and the string. For the chassis, I had 3D printed the frame I wanted and added carbon fiber to reinforce the frame to make sure the torque from the mousetrap did not warp the chassis. The wheels were, once again, 3D printed and I had added a groove on the outer diameter of the wheel to allow me to place an o-ring around the wheel for traction. I made the back small so I could be as accurate as possible and the front was larger so, I could go forward as fast as possible. It was like a balancing act between accuracy and speed.
