I don’t know about Div C, but Div B was really competitive in our state. 1st place held all the weight and got a score of 3300, 2nd place broke right as the last gran of sand fell and got a score of 3150.

That's very similar to the Div-B Tower scores in Ohio this year. I wonder if 3300 is the limit or someone will go over 3500?

I built a 5.69g div B tower that held almost all, breaking at the very end with an efficiency around 3,450. There was something stuck at the end of the chute, resulting in sand coming out really slow. It took more than three minutes and I am assuming it could have survived and held all under normal circumstances. It was a test tower and I hope to replicate it for states this Saturday.
I use cereal boxes for jigs and build in two parts. My towers always have some visible imperfections. In this case, the chimney was not sitting squarely on the base and the top was not a perfect square either. So any teams with good jigs can definitely score above 3500

Just as a reference, my son and his partner built a square based bonus tower:
Base: strong leg, BS ~48 at 36 inch with 5 interval, all X bracing (bottom 2: 3/32X1/32 strips from 10g sheet, next 2 1/16X1/32 strips from 8g sheet, top one 1/16X1/32 from 6g sheet. The sheet is 1/32X3X36).

Chimney: light leg, BS ~20 at 36 inch with 9 interval, all X bracing ( 1/16X1/32 strip from 6g sheet)

Total weight 8.06g, holding 13kg, got first place in Northern California State. I was not there, but my son told me the table was not leveled. It was designed for 15kg.

I thought they may be able to get a medal, but they got first place.

I’m suprised that the first place tower got 1900. I was thinking at least 2200 for first place. I guess pa is not that great at towers

This seems reasonable, since IL Towers teams tend to be quite strong, typically just behind OH and MI.

Nebraska is crazy, my team s way above every other team, we have won the last 14 years in a row by like 50 points. They had scores posted on a white board in the testing room and it was 1228 ( us) then 800 then 600 then a lot of team in the 300 to 400 range. Most teams make a tower that can nearly hold 15kg but it weighs like 25-30g
