Scale

What kind of scale are you using to weigh buckets at the end of the event? We are having trouble finding one under $2,000.

Use a bathroom scale. All of the competitions I've been too have used one.

Use legit anything for bucket weighing. You can get one for like $10. I recomend getting one down to the .1 gram accuracy

even at a max load of 1kg, or 2 kg, you can weigh the sand separately and get results...

ok, had my coffee and realized i didn't make much sense...

so weigh it in smaller lots... dump, weigh again... works... and makes the kids work too!

I'd recommend something like this for in-house use: https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Spring-S ... B006RBHINS If I were going to supervise Towers at a competition, I'd get something a little sturdier (but this would still work - 10g accuracy is likely enough to differentiate teams, especially if you have a 0.01g scale to measure the towers on).

Also, this was posted last year, but I was so surprised to find super precise scales online for affordable prices - search for jewelry scales - here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-G ... B0012TDNAM If you're going to take the time to measure every piece before assembling a tower, something like this is essential.

This is similar to the one we use, at it works fine. You need to watch where you set the bucket, or you can't read it, but other than that, no complaints.
