Nationals

Post by CMS AC »

Any predictions for 1st place times at nationals, assuming it's in a 20-24 foot typical gym?

As well as "April_fools" (without underscore) to "April Fools."

It will probably depend on how wide the gym is and how much airflow there is. If the gym is really wide and there is no airflow, probably about 2:40-3:00. If it is small with some airflow, probably about 2:15-2:35.

2:45?????

Are you saying you have that time? This is literally not possible.... I had a perfect flight in a small gym the other day and I barely got over 2 minutes (barely touched ceiling, went up and down slow)

Also, what are the highest times you've seen at invitationals?

It all depends on who goes and the size of the gym. Last year Huntington WV won Natls with a 2:18 in a 22’ gym. I would expect better when they fly this year.
I have also seen Tower Heights in Ohio fly 3:00 in a 28’ gym this year. They may or may not be there (Ohio State is April 28).
There may be others but I don’t know...

What the heck? How do you get that lol

Even with really thin rubber like .052 it wouldn't LAST that long. .045 doesn't make the plane fly at all.

How????

Different propellers and different pitches will change the rate at which you run out of winds. Also, a much higher ceiling will definitely matter.

Still though. Even with a different propeller that moves slower it pushes less air too, resulting in it not going as high.

Any video of 2:30+ flights?
