Ok, last one (for now :P )

27. Which of the following INCREASES hemoglobin binding affinity for oxygen?
I. 2, 3-diphosphoglycerate
II. increase in blood pH
III. increase in temperature
a. I only
b. II only
c. I, II
d. II, III
e. None of the above

The answer was b, but doesn't increased blood pH actually cause oxygen detachment.

factors causing increased Hb affinity for O2: decreased PCO2, Decreased H+ (not decreased pH), decreased 2,3 DPG, Decreased temp

oh, looks like I confused myself

No, the systems change every year. :)

No, the systems change every year. :)
However, the event anatomy itself is never swapped out for another one.

Just a quick question, are the three walls of the heart the epicardium, endocardium, and myocardium or pericardium, endocardium, and myocardium? Because I thought the pericardium was the outermost layer of the heart, but the University of Florida invitational (C) said it was epicardium.

I think this may be because the pericardium is the sac that surrounds the heart and isn't officially a layer of the heart. Therefore, the epicardium is the outermost layer of the heart, making the three walls the endocardium, myocardium, and epicardium.

The pericardium is a sac enclosing the heart or surrounding the heart wall, rather than being an actual layer of the heart wall.

oh, okay. But isn't the epicardium part of the pericardium?

The epicardium is the innermost layer of the pericardium
The layers of the pericardium not including the epicardium include great vessels, while the epicardium layer just encloses the heart, making it considered one of the walls of the heart.
