Only a couple teams in the nation managed 100 cm last year with much wider/higher dimensions, and I don't think they could manage much time. I have not tried yet but guessing 70 cm gap would be impressive and decent time. The winner will still probably be one with the most gaps. Height is still useless for nationals but could be good at some states. Happy time plays a more important role.
Last year at nats though alot of teams didn't perform to their best potential. I feel like it would've been way easier to get into the 120s, especially with 80cm? of height (correct me if im wrong)
Only know 1st place had 107 cm, 2nd had 100 cm, the rest kept dropping at about that rate. Mine was only low 90s. Would like to have seen the 107.

Yeah, I think it was Bedford ms who got 107.
With these years rules, is it even possible to get 100? At this point, I'm starting to doubt it.

What’s the largest single gap that was effective last year? With only 3 scoring gaps instead of 5, and all of the dimensions shortened, I have a hard time imagining a team squeezing in 3x33 cm gaps. I like the rebalancing of scoring, and I anticipate seeing even more diverse roller coasters this year.

Highest gap in the top ten (and most likely at nats) was 46 cm. But there were only 2 gaps in the device, so they only got 92 cm. (They got 3rd).

If someone does 2 gaps again, we can expect 3/4 of that, which is 35 * 2 = 70cm of gap.

2nd Place got 28, 28, 28, 16 (4 gaps)
Which is approx. 33, 33, 33. If we calculate 3/4 of each jump, it means that each jump will be at about 25cm, totalling up to 75cm gap.

So since this years the 2nd year, maybe someone will get 80cm gap?

Now, it's unambiguous - "the ball/sphere must be visible at all times." So, does that mean that transparent plastic tubes and funnels are ok? I wouldn't think the rule writers intended that consequence, but surely it must've come up in discussion.
Not so unambiguous.

Transparent tubes are clearly OK under the current rules, as the ball would be "visible". What is not clear is whether the ball must be continuously visible from a fixed viewpoint, or if it's OK to insist that the ES moves his head to keep the ball in view.

Tubes wouldn't help much though, other than funnels, which some teams might potentially use as a cheap timing system, which isn't really accurate.

The beginning and the end of each Gap must be at least 0.5 cm above the next surface(s) below them.

Can someone put this into better words, please? I have somewhat of an idea of what it means, but not 100% sure.

Interesting. To me, it only addresses The beginning and the end of the jump. As it its now written, it does not apply to the lowest portion of the "ski jump" for those that are using it.
