im pretty sure that cardboard is fine, because its basically paper sandwiched by paper....

Cardboard is fine, but balsa is 10000000 times better.

Maybe for the full glider, but not necessarily for a small piece. If you are 3d printing, you can set a printer to 20-30% infill and the finished product turns out quite light. Does anyone know an ideal dihedral wing angle for the guru glider kit? I am new to this event and am still having issues troubleshooting.

Try setting both angles so they are equal, and so they are about 29.5 cm in length.

I assume you mean so the wings are 29.5 cm in length? What are the pros and cons of increasing/decreasing the angles? Over increasing and over decreasing tended to make our plane more wobbly. We have a dihedral angle of about 10 degrees. If you wanted the wings as flat as possible, the wings should just be 29.9 cm in length. The guru glider wingspan is 29.08 cm long.
I use Great Planes Pro Formance 1 mm foam. I sand with 150 grit on a block setup to sand balsa to .025” thick and after about 15 minutes of sanding both sides (removes the shine from both sides and then a little more material) weighs about .0226g/sq in (about equal to 1/32” thick 2.75 lb cu ft balsa). Sanding is a little tricky as the foam tries to buckle as you approach the final stages of sanding. But, using small circular sanding motions and patience will give good results.
I’ve used this foam successfully for a number of gliders (Category II high ceiling and Category I low ceiling) It’s light, tough, bends into a flap curve well and flexible enough after sanding to give a good bunt/flap effect on transition.
