I agree, don’t you need a flat surface to connect tension to compression?
Personally, I wouldn’t try to overdo the design. Trying to put tension sticks on a curved surface seems too complicated. I tend to stick with a simple design and just trying to get that to get maximum efficiency with that boomi mass, then trying to dial down the boomi mass.

Washington state scores

1. Bothell hs~1200
20. Camas hs black~1740 full load
21. Camas hs red~1720 14008g load

Note: the scale for measuring boom weight was slightly off, rounded to .1 of grams but was not accurate

Wait how was first place 1200, and 20th and 21st both higher at around 1700.
