Basswood Tension Cords

Post by OpticsNerd »

To those who are using basswood tension cords, what cross-section size are you using and how successful have you been with them? I'm currently using 1/32 x 1/8 but I'm not sure if I need a slightly larger cross-section size.

I'm using 1/8 x 1/32 right now which should be just as strong but one time they broke at just 10 kg.

I recommend using 1/16 x 3/32 basswood. Just make sure that you laminate balsa to the end for more gluing surface area on the compression piece.
