Re: Magnet Task
You need to remove the magnet from a surface so the object falls, so an electromagnet wouldn’t work.MgEHS22 wrote:Would it be allowed to use an electro magnet so when it stops receiving power the object falls?

Re: Magnet Task
It would if you just pulled the electromagnet off instead of turning it off. Of course, using an electromagnet would put you in violation of 3g which would bring you a 150 point penalty, so it isn't a good idea.TheSquaad wrote:You need to remove the magnet from a surface so the object falls, so an electromagnet wouldn’t work.MgEHS22 wrote:Would it be allowed to use an electro magnet so when it stops receiving power the object falls?
How would you think the word "magnet" is defined? Do you think both the object pulled and the object which falls have to be permanent magnets, or could one of them be ferromagnetic?

Re: Magnet Task
The object that falls is defined as a “magnetic object,” not a magnet, meaning it can just be a ball bearing or anything attracted to a magnet.Flavorflav wrote:It would if you just pulled the electromagnet off instead of turning it off.
