Well, yes, if following regular sig fig conventions, you can only give your answer to the precision of the least precise measurement. Which is why it's important to write good questions.Crimesolver wrote:So here’s the dilemm: you are given a question where one of the values have 1 sit fig. Those that mean I ACTUALLY have it round to the first sig fig? I find that kinda weird because if the answer is 23.27, I’d have to round it to 20.

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
Usually when that happens I try to have the more precise answer easily visible somewhere at the end of my work and then box the correct sig fig one with a note saying something along the lines of (only 1 sig fig) next to it. I'm not sure whether this actually helps the grading but it makes me feel better about it.CookiePie1 wrote:Well, yes, if following regular sig fig conventions, you can only give your answer to the precision of the least precise measurement. Yes, albeit you can ask the event supervisor whether significant figures should be accounted for during the test. Usually if you have one of the values at 1 sigfig in an actual experiment, it wasn't measured precisely enough and there is a large margin of error.Crimesolver wrote:So here’s the situation: you are given a question where one of the values have 1 sit fig. Re: Thermodynamics B/C
Consider this: If you increase temperature, you increase entropy. (1) More energy put into a system excites the molecules and the amount of random activity. (2) As a gas expands in a system, entropy increases.freed2003 wrote:Wait why does increasing temperature increase entropy if it’s in the denominator for entropy? Also doesn’t decreasing energy decrease entropy even though it’s in the numerator?

Probably 2024, if we stick to Thermo -> Machines -> Wind PowerCookiePie1 wrote:Lowkey same. when will this rotate back?CPScienceDude wrote:ugh, I already miss Thermo... Anyone else?
