Unless you're testing in a controlled environment, inconsistencies will always be there. Especially due to the fact that all ESes are human and can't definitively replicate proper testing conditions to a point; a robot may not even be able to do that. Just plan accordingly and go with your gut.

Any beaker that's close will do, as long as you use it for all your tests. Your science teacher probably has a 250 mL beaker lying around somewhere, and you can ask to borrow it for the season.Luna01 wrote:Where can u find a beaker with those specific parameters?

Is the k-value calculated using the initial temperature of the water before the water is in the beaker or is it using the initial temperature of the water at the first reading from the thermometer after the water is already in the beaker and inside the box?

Is it? I think on some of mine they used the temperature after pouring; they can try, but the source bath's temperature never actually stays the same. In my competitions it usually drops at least 5*C if not more over the course of their water distribution.

If it's plugged in properly, the source bath should stay the same. Your beaker water might drop dramatically though.JoeyC wrote:Is it? They didn't plug it in, they just filled a teakettle-like container and brought it around (giving it 10 minutes to cool before it reached us).

My device has dropped like 10 degrees at competitions before.
