University of Michigan Invitational 2022
We at the University of Michigan Science Olympiad are so excited to finally unveil our plans for our fifth annual tournament this season!
We are planning on hosting an IN-PERSON tournament on Saturday, February 19th, 2022! However, though our event will be on campus, we will still be holding a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday February 23rd during the evening to minimize large group gatherings and keep all attendees as safe as possible. We will also be closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in the coming months, and have backup plans in place to switch to a virtual tournament in the event of national, state or University of Michigan COVID guideline changes. Our schedule is forthcoming, but we will seek to match Michigan state and National event conflicts to the best of our abilities.
Our initial team caps will be set at 30 Division B teams and 60 Division C teams, but we may raise the caps depending on interest from teams. We will, as in years past, have an initial limit of two teams per school and automatically waitlist additional teams unless there is additional availability.
We will be running all 23 scored Division C events and 23 scored Division B events, though this may be subject to change in the event of a transition to a virtual tournament. A list of our trial events will be available on our website soon.
Registration for our tournament will open October 8th at 6pm Eastern Time. Our registration process will involve a short Google form for pre-registration. Teams will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to fill out our pre-registration as soon as it becomes available!
We can't wait to see everyone back in person doing awesome science!
