If you are including div c, SEPA or Santa Clara are probably more competitive, in SoCal I don't know if I'd say OC is very competitive. It depends on your definition of competitive. Most people would define it as strong teams fighting for limited spots for states, where not all will make it. By that definition, I'd find competitive regional to be an oxymoron for the most part minus the exceptions of SEPA and Santa Clara. The teams for which a regional is competitive would just be the ones fighting for the last few spots after all the local powerhouse teams.

Yeah, I was gonna respond and say SEPA before everyone else did, but I don't know much about SoCal regionals so I don't know if either of the new SEPA regionals are quite as strong.

Yeah, the new SEPA regionals are definitely competitive but nowhere near what they used to be - it was a pretty even split with rustin, penncrest, and stoga in one and harriton and lm in the other. Still, before the split, it was definitely one of the most competitive regionals in the country.

Those were proposed names, but Portola is just the campus we host at, and Orange County is the regional, so I don't think it is a good idea to name the invitational as such since we are not part of the Orange County Regional organization.
Yeah. Also it's being hosted at Portola this year? (asking because of the name change)
It will be online through scilympiad
Oh wait... I forgot pandemic existed oops.

SoCCal regionals are probably a bit less competitive even after the split.
