Arteries: take oxygenated blood from the heart and bring it to the rest of the body (unless pulmonary arteries, which take deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs). The main point is that arteries contain blood going away from the heart.
Veins: take deoxygenated blood from the body and bring it to the heart (unless pulmonary veins, which take oxygenated blood from lungs to heart). The main point is that veins contain blood going to the heart.
Capillaries: smallest of the blood vessels, where oxygen/carbon dioxide and other nutrients are exchanged with the tissue around them.
