Hey, I’m not sure if anyone from Fossil Ridge is here. But they left a torque meter and winder on top of the thermostat right by the entrance.

it's not about the medals; go out there and have fun. make progress, learn a few things and have one heck of a time; that's all that matters.

I do wonder how the Michigan state top 3 teams were.

Re: Wright Stuff C
AAHS was one of the most amazing flights I've ever seen; they were still at the CEILING when it was 3 minutes

Re: Wright Stuff C
The YouTube link does not go to the right movie. Oh, maybe is a comment, was hoping it was a video of the flight. My battery went dead, I did not get to video.
I'll try to post a debrief on the flight this evening.

Re: Wright Stuff C
Coach Chuck,
Super job by your team to become repeat National Champions in the flying event!
Great job pursuing the event to the limit and great job contributing excellent assistance to the forum again.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Now that Nationals are over, I am ready to share a little info on our best flights.
Of the four teams that I coach, the one that got the farthest in testing could consistently fly 3:58 at 18 ft. Unfortunately, their best propeller was damaged one week before Michigan States. They were about 90% of the way there retrimming to their spare propeller (same design, slightly different performance) and got within about 10 seconds of their previous best flights.
We didn't test for higher climb height as our Regionals height was 24 ft. and our States was 22 ft. My three top teams times at Michigan States (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were: 3:29, 3:28 and 3:07 climbing 18 to 21 ft. no-touch. These were all "safety" flights and all three teams had a small issues with their more aggressive flights. The 3:07 was with an trimmed and sanded Ikara "flaring" propeller. The other two flights were with custom propellers.
My favorite flight this year was actually the win at the University of Michigan Invitational. My best team at this invite got first place by flying 2:55 in a 16 ft ceiling with three gentle (and lucky) touches (team #2 and #3 got 2nd and 3rd with 2:15 and 2:18 and each with one not so lucky touch).
