I have three workstations in my shop, so my schools build three airplanes in mostly one 8-hour day (usually a Saturday 9 am till 5 pm) with a couple more hours on another evening for finishing details. The three airplanes are two for the school’s A-Team and one for the B-Team. The B-Team returns on another day to build their spare.

Of course, there are other build sessions for additional variations in the airplane setup.

So far this year, my four schools have constructed 15 airplanes. It’s been a busy year.

first year (7th grade) uhhh like around 2-3 weeks cause i literally had no clue what i was doing
this season but like our first actual plane like 1 week maybe even less and i mean it was good enough to not bomb so yay

Does anybody know of a durable PORTABLE platform where I can tape down the full-sized drawing to? I need to transport the Wright Stuff kit back and forth between my partner and I. Would a large (but thin) piece of a cardboard work?

get foam board spray glue the design to it and cover in wax paper. that way u can also use pins to hold stuff down and get glue on it w/o ruining anything. also photocopy the template if ya can

I recently ran into an issue with nose down at initial launch with higher torque. I wind rubber band to 1.3 torque and then dewind it to 0.65 torque. When I released it, it will hit on floor after several seconds. Then I picked it up and launched it again, it will fly more than 2 minutes. I then do the same thing to wind torque to 1.3 and dewind it to 0.6. it will fly ok. so, why it cannot fly with higher initial launch torque?

wait so youre winding to 1.3 and then winding backwards to .65 or are you releasing and then letting go so the launch torque is .65

I know I had an issue like that once where the prop was angled downwards ever so slightly, and it fought against the lift at the beginning because of the high torque, which made it dive. There might be something more behind your issue, however.

Most likely your fuselage is bending at the higher torques. Pulls the nose down increasing town thrust, and tail down, causing excess nose down moment.
