Not that I know of but I didn't hear of a ton of times. I personally don't think 1st was 3 minutes but I'm not entirely sure either, was hoping other people could share some of their scores who placed at States.

Times I did hear about were around the just above 2 minutes range though.
what was the ceiling like? Flat? Girders?

There were girders and ceiling lights, during my first flight we crashed into girders twice and the wing broke off the second time. There was also a ceiling divider running across the room that was a little lower than the girders, but very avoidable.

For Indiana state, first place was 3:33 in a field with an effective ceiling height of 60 feet.

He's referring to an indoor field. An 8-gram plane would not survive all the drafts outside. In my opinion, I would not risk flying outside at all.

They aren't pennyplanes. Besides... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlD8ON4DNeI

Not a marketing plug, just making the point that these planes are built very, very strongly. Any WS plane built to minimum weight this year would be fine outdoors. If it's windy, don't do it, mainly because you'll lose the plane in a tree and destroy it getting it back down.

We got 3:00 from 20 ft ceiling in practice and repeated quite well.

In regional competition with 29 ft, ceiling, still 3:03 because touch with light. Second run was worse, wing got knocked off.

This is FF.

it's not about the medals; go out there and have fun. make progress, learn a few things and have one heck of a time; that's all that matters.

Thanks for asking. It is repairable, but you have to build new one for state, right?
