Re: Electric Wright Stuff B [S-CA TRIAL]
Interestingly, the rules for the 2020 version of Electric Wright Stuff are identical to the rules for last year's (2019) Electric Wright Stuff.
Does that mean we can use last year's planes? If they qualified then, they qualify now.
For the 2020 rules for EWS, go to:
https://socalscioly.org/downloads/2020% ... ff%20B.pdf
Basically, they say:
1.) Plane must weight 7.00 grams or more, including complete drive train.
2.) Single wing (monoplane), one 2-bladed propeller.
3.) Max wing span 40cm, max chord 10cm.
4.) Max stabilizer span 20cm, max stabilizer chord 7cm.
5.) Max propeller diameter 14cm.
6.) A DC motor, powered by a capacitor 5.0 Farad, 3.0V or less. (Does "DC motor" mean no brushless motors?)

Re: Electric Wright Stuff B [S-CA TRIAL]
Put together a coach's prototype plane for this year's Electric Wright Stuff. The students at Mesa Verde Middle School in San Diego started building theirs today.
Took the prototype to the gym at Westview High School in San Diego this evening, flew it three times. On the third flight it flew 1 min 23 sec.
See the video at https://youtu.be/kWCj5hg_pJI
Progress.
