Do they allow the rubric to be brought into the testing room?
I did the event last year and they do not. The only things you are allowed are a mouse (even that wasn't allowed at a certain competition I went to) and a pencil to draw/write ideas on scrap paper.
They also allow you to bring headphones for sound testing.

The rules actually state that you may bring headphones with a microphone (in order to make original audio) and a writing utensil. It doesn't say anything about a mouse so I am not sure about that.

Some proctors allow it, others explicitly say don't bring one. We always brought a mouse and just left it outside/at the front of the room if the proctor didn't want the mouse to be used.

What kind of game is a good "base" game? Like a game type that can hit all the points but needs minimal adjustment to fit the theme? Thanks!

I would say like a catching/dodging game but using velocity code for the uc sprite and for the autonomous sprite using the velocity code modified so it speeds up as it hits the ground, because then you can add levels which speeds up the items you have to dodge and catch. Then all you have to focus on is adding environment interactions to fit the theme, making your game something different and fun to play to earn the judges points, and also making all your sprites custom background custom to earn the 4 points in that section and buttons title etc.

Is the rubric the same for this 2020 competition? It would be helpful to prepare for the competition.

Hi!

First time doing Game On, and in the required materials it says I need an "audio port adapter" with my headset. What exactley is that? Thanks

I'm also pretty new to game on, but I believe that by audio port adapter, it means to have something to connect your headset to the computer. For example if your headset only has a headphone jack, and the computer you're using doesn't have one, then the audio port adapter is something like a USB to headphone jack adapter. Hope this makes sense!
