Incorrect Thermistor Reading

Post by eggsandfroot »

I've been using the TI- Inspire Innovator Hub (and a CX calculator) with a 10k Ohm NTC Thermistor. When I make a circuit with a 100 Ohm resistor in it, I consistently get readings that are about negative 70 degrees (at room temperature). When I take the resistor out of the circuit, the readings are all around positive 53 degrees. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, are those the numbers I should be getting with those setups? Do I need to use a different strength resistor?

Thanks in advance.

Where in the circuit is your resistor? If you are using a 10k ohm thermistor, I'm pretty sure you need a 10k ohm resistor connecting the cathode to ground.
