It's slope length over vertical length: you move the object by the slope length(hypotenuse), not the horizontal leg length.
Hence the AMA would be csc(45) = ~1.41/1 = 1.41

Assume it will, trigonometry is extremely fundamental to physics, it's hard to imagine a Machines test without it.

Hello, a Div B coach here, For the rule that states - The device must fit inside the box no larger than 100cm X 100 cm X 50 cm, do we have to take the box as well, or will the box be provided by the event supervisor? If we have to take the box , please suggest best places to find/buy boxes.

I feel the best way to study is by using past tests and just watching videos to solve those. Libre texts and the mech sub wiki are good resources as well as google images for a visual representation.
