Re: Protein Modeling C
The reason I brought up orgo chem is because I did a couple of invitational tests as practice at home and a few of the questions were quite challenging.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Protein Modeling C
It definitely depends on the test writer. I don't think organic chemistry is necessary, but it could be included. (of course there is an overlap between orgo and biochem). I would stick with biochemistry rather than orgo. You do not need to know topics such as edman degradation, but you should know anfinsen dogma, hydrophobic effect, and thermodynamic stability of proteinseagerlearner102 wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 10:50 am The reason I brought up orgo chem is because I did a couple of invitational tests as practice at home and a few of the questions were quite challenging.

Re: Protein Modeling C
Which textbook would I use for biochemistry? I currently only have Campbell biology.jaah5211 wrote: ↑September 15th, 2019, 9:39 pmIt definitely depends on the test writer. Re: Protein Modeling C
Campbell biology is a great start. I would find books that focuses on proteins.eagerlearner102 wrote: ↑September 17th, 2019, 7:44 amWhich textbook would I use for biochemistry? Re: Protein Modeling C
For all of the questions about proteins, I think studying biochemistry would help. Of course, basic orgo knowledge may be useful too.AlfWeg wrote: ↑September 14th, 2019, 6:31 pmThe papers that MSOE puts on its website are a great read(last year’s papers are good for understanding CRISPR), and ig scioly wiki is a decent starting point(I think it’s all factually correct to ). Naw, def not orgochem, that just doesn’t really help imoeagerlearner102 wrote: ↑September 14th, 2019, 4:48 pm What textbooks should I read for Protein Modeling? Would an organic chemistry textbook chapter be a good idea?

Re: Protein Modeling C
This sounds kind of extra but would any of you recommend Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry? I went on a Scioly wiki link about protein modeling that referenced to chapters in Lehninger.

Re: Protein Modeling C
Is it just me or did this confusion come up last year as well? One paper per team or person??
and in the next line it specifiesEach participant may bring one 8.5'' x 11'' sheet of paper
This year it seems like one paper per person? Each team will impound...
