Part III should be worth approximately 1/3 of the score. Part III includes a number items, including the salinometer, which should be worth 5% of the total score by itself. The remainder of the Part III points (to reach ~33%) should come from questions on Part III paragraph d topics.kate! wrote:The manual says that each part of the competition counts for 1/3 of the score, but then it says that salinity testing counts for 5%.Unome wrote:I'm pretty sure the salinometer counts for 5% of the score.kate! wrote: But the test and ID portion count for 2/3 of the event and the build only counts for 1/3.

Re: Water Quality B/C
you could just start with a simple clay and straw salinometer, You can find lots of them online, or you could go complicated with an electrical one with circuits and stuff which you can also find plans for online.izzanom wrote:Does anyone have any plans for a salinometer? Theres one on soinc but idk how reliable it is... Im not rly sure where to start

Re: Water Quality B/C
I personally succ at making the straw and clay one, but if you spend more than 5 minutes on making it then it's typically reasonably consistent.izzanom wrote:Does anyone have any plans for a salinometer? Theres one on soinc but idk how reliable it is... Im not rly sure where to start

Hi I'm completely new to Scioly so I have no idea how these events work. Someone mentioned we have to build a salinity tester??? Like physically build one? and how????

Yes, for this event you have to build a salinometer (although iirc it only counts for 5% of your grade). You can find instructions on how to build a basic one on the wiki page here: Water Quality Wiki. You can probably also find plans for a more accurate one online and work from there.helphelphelphelp wrote:Hi I'm completely new to Scioly so I have no idea how these events work. Re: Water Quality B/C
In a Water Quality test, there was a question stating that the condition in which DO is below 1 mg and no life that requires oxygen can be supported is
called stagnation. The other answer choices were hypoxia, bioaccumulation, and apoxia.
Can someone explain why the answer isn't hypoxia, but stagnation?
Thanks.

I think (?) it should be hypoxiasourpatchkids wrote:In a Water Quality test, there was a question stating that the condition in which DO is below 1 mg and no life that requires oxygen can be supported is

Re: Water Quality B/C
Oof I was just issued that test today as well. I was looking at the other test keys from the same school and BOY OH BOY. There was more red pen on the keys than the actual tests. As Name said, the key can be wrong at times.Name wrote:I think (?) it should be hypoxiasourpatchkids wrote:In a Water Quality test, there was a question stating that the condition in which DO is below 1 mg and no life that requires oxygen can be supported is
