Results from other March 2 Regionals:
(Btw, sorry I didn't post these the day they happened; I was preoccupied the day of with my own regionals and the day after with something else and then school started up again and uh yeah sorry here they are)

Lower Hudson Div B
1. Scarsdale A (127)
2. Ardsley A (146)
3. Pleasantville A (148)
4. Seven Bridges A (151)
5. Seven Bridges B (250)
6. Horace Mann A (260)

Notes: Scarsdale has gotten a lot stronger from last year's state competition, and Pleasantville seemingly underperformed in this competition. Scarsdale is definitely going to be top 15, and though I previously predicted Pleasantville to be 10th, I might have to more them down. Ardsley is still in the middle of the two teams, but Seven Bridges may move up a couple places at states, considering that they lost by only three points to H.C. Crittenden at states last year, and H.C. Crittenden didn't make it this year. I'm actually kind of surprised about that, since they went from getting 17th at states with 9 medaling events to literally 30th at regionals.

Mid-Western Div B
1. Calkins Road A (64)
2. Bay Trail A (65)
3. Thomas C. Armstrong A (95)
4. Penn Yan A (95)
5. Calkins Road B (116)
6. Spry A (126)
7. Willink A (133)

Notes: Calkins Road went from a 16 place difference at states to a 1 point difference at regionals with Bay Trail. Seems like they've lost strength, but this may have partially been due to a very impactful Battery Buggy bomb (note that their B team placed 6th in the event). They're still the better of the 2 teams, though, considering that their B team placed 5th (though Bay Trail doesn't have another team). Thomas C. Armstrong and Penn Yan seem to be new contenders, however, and I'm excited to see how they do at states, especially after hearing Penn Yan's name a few times at Cornell. Maybe they'll be in the running for the Small School/New School award (we do have that? if i'm remembering correctly? i think seven bridges won last year? maybe that was the spirit award??) Either way, they have potential, seeing as they beat Lake Placid at Cornell (even though they were beaten by Sunset Park Prep and Brother Joseph Fox)

Additional Comments:
Does anyone have the results for Adirondack B, Capital B, Lake Erie/Niagara B, Adirondack C, Lower Hudson C, Nassau West C? They're not on Ezra... (Especially Capital B) Also, I think I forgot to post a bunch of C regional results but we've already moved on to state predictions for div C so there's no use.
Two years ago I knew stuff about rocks, minerals, experiments, and ecosystems, yay!
Last year I knew stuff about amphibians, reptiles, freshwater, and more experiments, yay again!
Now I know stuff about oceanography, saltwater, birds, and fossils, yay for the third time!

There was a snowstorm the night of the competition and I believe H. C. Crittenden arived late and had to no-show a bunch of events causing the poor results this year.

Oh, that sucks... New York always has such bad weather during competition season. Hopefully they make it next year.

Oof does anyone else think Murphy will beat BACA? I’m a little biased yes... but they have more overall experience and is sort of the district with two top NY teams... idk

I think it’s hard to say since Murphy hasn’t really attended many invitationals, so I don’t quite know if it’d be fair to rank them below Bay Academy... That being said Bay Academy has obviously done really well all season, so I don’t know if it’s fair to rank them below Murphy...

Idk, I guess this basically comes down to the concept of newer program of rising stars vs an old established program. Bay Academy’s results have been exceptional thus far (Cornell in particular, beating SSA, Harlan Rowe, even the long established NY powerhouse of Eagle Hill) and I think that concept of them coming in and “making waves” could continue to states. (I think they’ve done a great job with this so far!)

Meanwhile, I’ve only seen regional results from Murphy and I don’t really know how to interpret them as I basically have no idea about the stacking patterns of these teams considering both Murphy and Gelinas have good depth. Gelinas A looked pretty stacked, and Murphy tied with Gelinas B though.

So I mean yeah, Murphy makes things difficult due to low invy attendance but I’m sure they will still be competitive. Will they beat Bay Academy? I’m less confident there, given Bay Academy’s performances throughout the whole season so far. I feel like Bay Academy will be a definite contender for top 3 given their vast improvement since last year (5th) and I feel like they could definitely top Murphy given these results. But who knows? Murphy has always done consistently amazing so anyting could happen tbh

I think if Bay just doesn't bomb tech they have a solid chance if getting 2nd.

Bay Academy have a high chance of making nationals this year, and I think it comes down to how tech performs. They seem to be very close to Murphy, but we'll see what happens at states

Agreed. At Rustin a lot of their lowest events were builds (Boomilever, Roller Coaster, ELG) and a quick look at Cornell results I think shows that they’ve improved. So with medals in study events at Cornell and not a placement below 19th, I think they’re looking good and will prob keep improving up until states.
