Re: Hawaii 2019
Yay. I'm sure we can count the amount of active Hawaii users on one hand.
Trials at states for reference:
Crime Busters
Dynamic Planet (B/C)
ELG
Mission Possible
SoM
Also, does anyone know why the PCHS invitational is running SoM instead of a classic like ExpD? And why did Mililani and Iolani run Dynamic Planet and Mission Possible? It seems weird that Hawaii invitationals would have state trial events.

Re: Hawaii 2019
A lot of invitationals hold their states trial events. For example, the Kraemer Invitational is holding 5 trial events.jimmy-bond wrote:Yay. I'm sure we can count the amount of active Hawaii users on one hand.

It also provides practice for nationals because eventually, somebody will go there.

Re: Hawaii 2019
I completely understand that, but the trial events are taking up extremely valuable slots for other events which need competitive experience to become good in. Kraemer is holding all of the events along with their trials, but competitions in Hawaii do not run many events. I'd much rather a slot be used for honing Experimental Design than go to waste on a build event which only 1 team can actually compete in for a score (no offense to SoM as an event).Galahad wrote:A lot of invitationals hold their states trial events. Re: Hawaii 2019
Of course, in Hawaii, it would be more optimal for schools to host the actual state events as priority. But, from what some invitational coordinators have said and the state director themself, it isn't easy to find people to proctor every event. Sure, state events have priority, but it simply isn't that easy. You need to find volunteers to run them, not to mention qualified people to write the exam itself. There simply is no point in running Experimental Design if you don't have an exam for it or if you don't have anybody qualified to run it. Point being, invitationals run what they can rather than what they would prefer to run. I'd rather run a mediocre build event with one team than a crappy experimental design.jimmy-bond wrote:I completely understand that, but the trial events are taking up extremely valuable slots for other events which need competitive experience to become good in. Re: Hawaii 2019
The Regional Spreadsheet comes out about a week after, I'll make sure to post the link here. But from what I gather, the margin was pretty big. Iolani taking home 11 medals on each of their teams with Highlands getting 6 and 7, respectively.dxu46 wrote:Do you have the scores? This seems weird...
