Best Teams That Didn't Make Nats

Post by EastStroudsburg13 »

I thought of this sort of thread earlier in the year, so I thought it might make for some interesting post-nats discussion to liven up the forums in its sleepy period. ;)

Essentially, this is for rankings and discussion of the best teams in the country that did not qualify for nationals. There are lots of great teams, and regardless of whether you think nationals bid allocation should be adjusted, there are teams that should still be recognized. Here are my top 5 that I thought of, but since this is really subjective, I don't expect everyone to agree. If I decide to analyze further, I might not even agree with myself.

B Division
1. Winston Churchill (CA-N)
2. Jeffrey Trail (CA-S)
3. Iolani (HI)
4. Meads Mill (MI)
5. Miller (CA-N)
HM (in alphabetical order): Bala Cynwyd, Bay Academy, Cooper, Shady Side, Oak Valley, Thornton

C Division
1. Centerville (OH)
2. LASA (TX)
3. WWP North (NJ)
4. Clements (TX)
5. Mentor (OH)
HM: Canyon Crest Academy, Lower Merion, Mountain View, Naperville North, Palo Alto, Troy (MI)

Obviously lots of other deserving teams out there, so feel free to give your own shout-outs!

Div C:

1) WWPN (Amazing at UPenn, very volatile states and barely lost, had momentum from last year’s nats)
2) Centerville (3rd place to two top 4 teams; fairly strong invites performances)
3) Camas (momentum from last year’s nats, looked strong but had very questionable 1 point loss at states due to boomi tier)
4) LASA (TX is hard man; got 2nd)
5) Clements (TX is hard man; got 3rd)

For honorable mentions-
Cumberland Valley in div C. I know a couple team members, they worked really hard this year and they jumped up from 10th to 4th in PA. Munster (div C Indiana) as well. They were very close to Carmel at states.
And maybe Langley from Virginia too, even though they weren't that close to TJHSST at states, they were still a good team.

FM is probably good enough for a honorable mention, and probably could've made Nationals if not for a couple of bombs.

Meads looked rly weak from states results this year iirc?
I agree totally with Bala Cynwyd, SSA, and Bay, but I don’t the other mentioned teams that well. In div C, Munster and Carmel were both insanely close, so i believe they would be in this category as well.

Unrelated note sort of, while no ri team is close to being in the best, or even close to being in the top 30 for that matter, but barrington ms would have beat us if they hadn’t messed up on battery. Shoutout to them as well for an amazing states peformance.

I'm gonna give a shoutout to my bros on the Iolani C team. They truly deserved to go.

I can’t speak for other teams...but I saw centerville and they are really good. if they made it, I think they could have been a top 5 team, or failing that, top ten.
