I've called it SciO since high school. When I was in middle school, it was always Science Olympiad. One of my friends moved, and then joined Ward Melville's team and he started called it sciO, and since they were the top team around, it seemed like a good idea to adopt.
Personally I think it's ideal because it's the smallest abbreviation that's not ambiguous, at least when the O is capitalized, and it rolls off the tongue easier than SciOly. I encourage widespread use!

Called it scioly ever since my sister found this site. Unfortunately my team never understands when I say that so it's Science Olympiad to them. My mom (who's not a native english speaker) likes to say "Olympic Science" though

For me, it's always been SO, because to me Scioly and Science Olympiad are two different (but related) things. Plus, it's short.

I've heard it be called science-olio, but I just stick with Science Olympiad while speaking and Scioly while typing.

Scioly, Science Olympiad and SO. Scioly is used when I type though.
