Blazer: can you give us any more details about it? Any idea how many total pages there were? Where did you buy the actual binder?
Oh, that's brilliant.

Oh, sorry. I don't think they would replace Eco with a lab event, so I would assume it's a study event...? :? Less sure about that one, though.

Woooops, didn't mean to put that angry face there. XP

That's what I was thinking, but it just seems like it should be more than just a test, like ecology is. Maybe more interactive, with water samples and stuff would be cool.

It's a bit of both. The macroinvertebrate part is a test, and there are question on pollution and stuff, but there's a lab part in testing for nutrients and DO, and for using your salinometer that you build for the event.

You have to build a salinometer for the water quality event? So there is an actual hands on part where you actually test the water the last time the event was run? (Just making sure). Is building the salinometer complex - as this event sounds slightly like keep the heat now with building a device and answering test questions on the subject.
Valley Forge Invitational 2012:
1st Microbe Mission (with 50/94 lol), 3rd Dynamic Planet, 4th Chem Lab (sigh..)

Central MD Regionals 2012:
1st Forensics, 1st Dynamic Planet, 2nd Microbe Mission, 2nd Chem Lab, 2nd Anatomy

Does anyone here have any idea of what the "systems" will be for Anatomy will be?
I go to school at Cerro Villa MS. A neighboring school of El Rancho Charter, a once dominating science olympiad team. Rebecca Black goes to El Rancho. It's Friday everyday there. :D

It's not complex at all. It's basically a ruled rod of some sort with a rubber stopper on the end. You just need to mark it based on known quantities of salt (so it floats at a certain height with no salt, and then a certain high in a .1 M salt solution, and another height at .2M, etc). I only actually did the event once, at Invitationals, so we didn't have to test the salinometer, but you test it during most competitions, it's a relatively minor part of the whole event.

so just clarifying and trying to note all possible changes for division B 2011-2012 :

jyc -> mission possible
ornithology -> forestology
ecology -> water quality
fossils -> rocks+minerals
shock value -> keep the heat
solar system -> reach for the stars
battery buggy ->mousetrap vehicle

and for the events with the same name, but different subject

anatomy- respiratory and ?
dynamic planet- earth's fresh water
meteorology- climate

did I miss anything?
