We have a thirty minute Metric Mastery meeting the Friday before Regionals. At the end, our coach takes two butterfingers. He splits one into a 3/4 and 1/4 piece, and asks us to estimate the weight of the wrapper. The closest person got the whole butterfinger, the next closest got the 3/4, third closest 1/4, fourth closest the crumbs. I ended up getting the 1/4 piece and my partner for the competition got a 3/4 piece (2nd and 3rd).
The next day at Regionals, we place first (and our coach isn't at the competition). So the next meeting, we both walk in wearing our gold medals and ask for a butterfinger.
Win.

Getting my first medal 8th grade year is definitely on the list, even though it was only a bronze.

Also, just recently I got my first gold medal in states for Astronomy. It's the best feeling ever to know that you just won a gold medal in state competition, especially for an event that you've worked hard in. The only downside was that we were the only team to place from my school. :(
2012 Season: Reach for the Stars-3rd (State) / Keep the Heat-19th (State)
2013 Season: Astronomy-2nd (State) / Disease Detectives-15th (State)
2014 Season: Astronomy-1st (State) / Experimental Design-20th (State)/ Anatomy and Physiology-16th (State)
2015 Season: Astronomy

My proudest moment was probably my first medal :D
This year was my first time experiencing science olympiad. At my first invitational I did really badly and felt awful because I felt like I let my partner down and could've been so much better. Then at the next invitational I placed 8th in experimental, 3rd in entomology, 3rd in anatomy, and 2nd in water quality (which is weird because me and my partner were just subbing xD) even though it was a much easier invitational. And at regionals I got 3rd in experimental design, 2nd in anatomy, and 1st in entomology. It was amazing at the invitational that I placed because I wasn't expecting anything and only wanted to be the best partner I could be. And I realized that scioly isn't an individual thing where one person benefits but a team thing where both of you work together and have a great time. I love scioly and can't wait to do it again next year. And in experimental design I loved how much we improved :)

Winning my first medal, a gold, as a 6th grader was pretty sweet, but winning five medals at State this year (the most from my team) was even better. I got 2 bronze, 2 silver, and 1 gold! It feels so amazing when they call your name for a medal :D
I took first at 2013 States as a 6th grader in Meteorology!!!

2014 State Results:

Anatomy: 2nd
Can't Judge A Powder: 9th
Crime Busters: 1st
Heredity: 3rd
Meteorology: 3rd
Sounds of Music: 2nd

2015 Events: Anatomy, Crave The Wave, Crime Busters, Experimental Design, Meteorology, Picture This
