Experimental design is my only non-studying event and is really fun for me because if you know the rubric you are going to do well.
Entomology used to be really bad for me and my partner because we didn't know that you only needed to know 100 families until our second invitational. Then we started having an awesome time with it.
Entomology has also been pretty easy for me, after my first two invitationals.
The first time, we went in thinking "We may have to ID insects" (LOL)
We also had no field guide. But the test was incredibly easy, and we got 4th

Then, the second time, we had a field guide but no idea how to use it. The test was incredibly hard. We got like 15 out of 160 and 12th place.

Then, I revised my notes like crazy and we have gotten 2nd every time since :)

And Experimental Design is also awesome.
Ento is Lyfe. <3 Ento. <3 Bugs. <3 Insects.
I didn't choose the Bug Lyfe, the Bug Lyfe chose me.

While no event is "easy", some require less work than others. I would say experimental design and metric mastery.

Metric mastery is definitely easy. Competition sounds like this
"This kinda looks like five centimeters"
"Eh, more like 7."
"Alright, we'll call it even at 15."
Here to help

True, true. I almost got disqualified last year at metric, because you had to measure how long a 6 foot pendulum took to swing with a 1 lb weight on the end. I'm really short, so I had to stand on a chair. The supervisor was like "Get down off that chair, before I disqualify you for goofing around!"

Personally, I think Simple Machines is really easy. There's only like 3 formulas to memorize, and if you know any physics, the entire written portion is a joke. The testing portion is also easy, after just a little practice.
Metrics is also easy unless they give you really weird stuff. At regionals, we had a jar of beans and another glass jar, and we were asked the number of jars that the beans could completely fill. The estimation of that was ok, but we had no idea about how to measure it. We were also given a map of our area to San Francisco with the route and asked to find the distance from our area to San Francisco.
Sine functions are quite odd, to be honest.

Exactly how?! I mean, you guys get to take in FOUR PAGES to the event! There must be sooo much information to learn for that event.

The main thing that I think DP people like me need to put on their cheat sheets is topo map symbols for glaciers, especially since I'm not in Road Scholar. But yeah the 4 pgs rule is awesome. Just put super hard things that are way to complicated to memorize.
