I would say Rocks and Minerals.
Every specimen has some characteristic that makes it easy to distinguish, and once you can ID all specimens by sight, all you have to do is ID them and look in your binder for the answers.
Heredity is also pretty easy, since it's only on Mendelian genetics.

Yeah Rocks & Minerals is probably the easiest event I've ever been in too (unfortunately it's easy for everyone else too, so small mistakes can really cost you).gneissisnice wrote:I would say Rocks and Minerals.

When I looked at the Heredity rules, I thought, "This is really easy! I learned all of it at school!"thehydrogenpoptart wrote:THIS. My partner and I were so sure we did well in Heredity. We ended up getting 7th at State, one place shy of a medal, because of the more obscure stuff on the test.ScienceOlympian wrote:I would say Heredity or Meteorology. However, it is really hard to medal in Heredity and Meteorology because everyone is good at them.
In Heredity, I got about two questions wrong (tiebreaker and another question) but got fifth...
At State.
And the Meteorology test was really easy at States. We learned most of the stuff in class, and we ended up placing 2nd.
I still think that the easiest event is Heredity though.
But I was wrong because there was always 5 teams who were better than me.

Re: Easiest event? OPINIONS
In my opinion, probably Compute This and Crime Busters.
Compute This was simply looking up items on a computer using a given website, and then putting specific information onto a chart, and making it look nice.
Crime Busters, as someone stated earlier, is also pretty easy because you can put everything on a cheat sheet, and as long as you're good at writing analytically, you're good to go.
Nevertheless, both events are definitely in my favorites. :3
