Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.
You should only create problems, that only you know solutions to.

Re: Science Olympiad 2014-2015 Events
I've been wondering that too, especially for the building events since I want to get a head start on those. Correct me if I'm wrong but normally, the big events like Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy, Chem Lab, Rocks and Minerals, Write It Do It, etc. don't get cycled out. On the other hand smaller events like Water Quality, Geo-logic Mapping, Boomilever, might get exchanged for something else (or in the case of Boomilever something REAL similar).
A good indicator is the schedule for the Science Olympiad summer institute thing. They normally have presentations for the events they're considering for the year and by the end of the week they should have a good idea of what's on the list. I'm sure someone around here has the link to that.

Yeah, I agree! I know that next year it will stay as Entomology but then move to Orinthology (birds). I know that if you want to prepare for the big events like Anatomy you should look at how the content cycles.astro124 wrote:I've been wondering that too, especially for the building events since I want to get a head start on those. I posted this on another similar thread the other day.

I will pick this one to develop as main thread.
Here is what I have worked out from it: (Standard caution: nothing official)
Life Personal and Social Science
Heredity->Bio-Process Lab
Design Genes->Cell Biology
Water Quality->Green Generation
Earth and Space Science
Rocks and Minerals->Fossils
Physical Science and Chemistry
Shock Value->Crave the Wave*
Circuit Lab->Its About Time*
Sounds of Music->Trajectory*
MagLev->Trajectory*
*Possibly arbitrary, paired based on perceived slots
Materials Science->Protein Modeling
Technology and Engineering
Boomilever->Bridges
Helicopters->Elastic Launch Glider
Elastic Launch Glider->Wright Stuff
Inquiry and Nature of Science
Metric Mastery and Rotor Egg Drop to yet unknown events

Re: Science Olympiad 2014-2015 Events
That's a really good summarization of the expected events next year, except that I don't think Green Generation will rotate in next year, since it's not a national trial event this year. I think Water Quality will be rotated out for Ecology, and I would like to think that Metric Mastery will be rotated out for either Pentathalon, Science Word, or Compute this. I think Rotor Egg Drop will be rotated out for either Balloon Race/launch Glider, Battery Buggy, or Bottle Rocket (which is the one I want to come back).Schrodingerscat wrote:I will pick this one to develop as main thread.

Re: Science Olympiad 2014-2015 Events
Yes, those are all very good guesses and very possible. However, Schrodinger's tentative list that he posted (from the Summer Institute) is slightly more official, but they were also posted in September. Somethings can still be up for grabs...Astroknight wrote:That's a really good summarization of the expected events next year, except that I don't think Green Generation will rotate in next year, since it's not a national trial event this year. Does anyone have any more info or guesses about the whole Water Quality/GG/Ecology situation...? I think it is time for Ecology to come back, as Green Generation still feels like a trial event... (in my opinion).

Re: Science Olympiad 2014-2015 Events
Is the list of events for Div. B or Div. C?

I think they intended GG to rotate in next year, since Water Quality has a 2-3 year rotation (correct me if needed). They probably felt that that track didn't have enough events.
