2017 Event Groupings
Does anybody know how the events are going to be grouped for 2017 or when they are going to be announced? We're trying to form our teams, but it's difficult not knowing if events are going to conflict.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Events have already been announced: https://www.soinc.org/2017_event_table. But tournament scheduling and conflicts can vary between invitationals, regionals, states, and nationals. You will have to check with your tournament site for the schedule they are following as there is no single schedule that all tournaments adhere to.

Noting that you are apparently in SoCal, last year the tentative schedule for state was posted in November. I can't figure out when San Diego usually posts schedules, but it's probably not very late.

Re: 2017 Event Groupings
I seem to recall that we had the schedule when we were creating the teams in early September. We didn't have to make any changes to our team once we got going after the teams were formed. The problem is that the San Diego regional says it is waiting for Southern California and Southern California says it is waiting for national.Unome wrote:Noting that you are apparently in SoCal, last year the tentative schedule for state was posted in November. It seems strange to me that there is no common national schedule. Teams could be preparing for months, go through regional and state competitions, and then have to make massive changes at the national because of event conflicts.

Just wait until you are involved in the administrative side of a tournament and realize how difficult it is to a) get event supervisors (e.g. New Jersey) b) get event supervisors to be available the whole day, and c) score stuff fast enough for awards (a continual problem).Erasmus Wembley wrote:I seem to recall that we had the schedule when we were creating the teams in early September. Although of course there are many places where the schedule is different "just because."
If they really are waiting for each other, expect a regional schedule by late September or early October.

Thanks.
According to my head coordinator our regionals schedule comes out around the first week of September, and the state one comes out around the same time, maybe a little later.

Re: 2017 Event Groupings
Just for comparison purposes, can someone post the event groupings for this year's nationals? At the Southern California competition, it was:

Re: 2017 Event Groupings
Is it possible that someone who already has the rules can post the new event groupings? Or is that not allowed? Thanks.
