Also, I completely forgot to post this, but we got kicked out of the library study rooms (which have an inexplicable limit of 6 people per group) once, because we were playing a marathon of acapellascience songs and a bunch of our teammates came down to the study room, and the librarian caught us.

Totally worth it though.

Seriously, if you haven't seen one of acapellascience's songs, you are truly depriving yourself of bliss (if you feel anything like I do about science.)

Two things (both mishap related)

At a Regionals competition, when Fossils still allowed a field guide and a binder, my partner and I were reaching across each other to grab the materials. She was holding a mechanical pencil and in the nerves of the moment, we moved quicker than we really should've. The pencil lead stabbed into my nail and broke off pretty deep, and we had to finish the competition with me trying to move my finger as little as possible. It was a pain to get out, especially since Fossils was in the morning and nobody was exactly prepared for this kind of thing.

Our States competition was at Caltech, which has a lot of olive trees. In fact, they used to have an Olive Festival. I've been to Caltech so many times since my dad works there, but for whatever reason, at one year's competition, I started having really bad allergies to the pollen from the olive trees. And the lawn on which the home bases were situated was surrounded on both sides with olive trees. I hadn't had the insight to bring allergy medicine, and my dad brought this nasal spray. Except, the nasal spray cleared up my nasal passages and let more allergens get in, and it made it even worse. During Fossils, I was finishing the station, blowing my nose, sprinting to the trash can, and sprinting back to my seat. This repeated for every single station. I learned my lesson, and now I carry allergy medicine at all times.

Last year at the Cornell invy, my best friend who was rooming with me, set the alarm for our room (a total of four girls). However, the ringtone was that god awful alarm thing on apple iPhone's. Me, being a very light sleeper, woke up first (even though the phone was across the room- yes, that's how loud and frightening it was!). Everyone else was still asleep, so I had to physically push them all to wake up. My then-partner woke up with me, still half-asleep muttering to herself, when her eyes just widened from the noise of the alarm! It was hilarious but frustrating. She woke up our ninth-grader who was rooming with us, and I had the duty of waking up the alarm-setter. I shoved her off her bed, to which she got up (eyes still closed) and went back to bed. What a great day that was.

In the hotel before Harvard, and my friend's sink getting clogged. We went to the coach's room and their door was open so we furiously knocked...no reply. Then we went to another coach's room, well we thought it was his room at least, and knocked, and a random man came out looking really pigeon at us. He started smiling at us and my friedn quickly said "I'm sorry," and he slammed the door on us. We finally found the room the coaches were in (they were playing Smash Bros with the boys on the team in their room) we knocked, and one of the boys answered, the coaches immediately yelled at us saying "No girls allowed". We finally got the coach's attention and when he came down into the room and looked at the sink and said really seriously... "It's messed up pretty bad."

Another time was when I was bored so using my "mystery architecture skills" I made a 150cm stick out of paper and held it like a spear running down the street at full speed. This kid was on his phone jumped back in fright and lost his phone in the process. I saw my mom's car so I made an abrupt stop where the stick was 6in away from his face, apologized, and ran into the car, my stick almost got chopped off by the closing of the door in the process :/.

I'll never forget 2016 MI States when my partner and I placed 4th in DP (our team places once or twice at States if we're lucky). This was the year that everyone started dabbing onstage, but my partner and I decided to take a selfie on stage instead (this is back when selfies were still cool). Amazing moment and it's the reason I've stuck with SO.

I remember a time back in 2015, when our Robo-Cross team was doing well. They got a significant amount of the items into the jug and it they were about to enter Zone D to achieve the most point they could get. They didn’t have that much time left, and robot was in Zone C, so all that stood in between it and Zone D was the ledge surronding Zone D. But when they tried to move the robot, it tipped over that ledge and everything went into Zone A, which nullified all the points values for the items and robot in Zone A!

It was funny until we realized that we could have made state if they had just stayed in Zone C... :x

Another time during 2016, I was doing the Hovercraft back when it was a trial event. This was also back when I literally didn’t care for builds until the last day. So, in the hotel, my partner and I were trying to make the thing float with just a puuny 9v, DIY plastic propellers (we used candles to bend the plastic. Our coach would have probably killed us...), and a styrofoam body with garbage bag sloppily taped on. When we brought it to the event, it was just depressing how bootleg the entire build was. I laugh back at how ghetto my builds were back in the day compared to now.

Here's a few of my memorable ones
When my partner glued her hand to our wright stuff plane.
When I got two medals at state.
When our boomilever A team somehow placed 12 places behind our B team.
When Everyone's getting 1st or 2nd's at regionals and one event gets 25th and drags us all to 3rd place
