From http://scioly.org/predictions/fantaSO/summary.php, the favorites for B (Remember that the B results are probably invalid, since some of the event's favorites only have 2 votes. Also, ExCEL and Community have been largely overlooked, due to the fact that they're so far down the list.):

The scores for FantaSO 2010 are now final. Congratulations to EASTstroudsburg13 for winning in division C with 63 points, and to both DarkSabre (who picked his teams completely arbitrarily >_>) and AustinRHL for winning in division B with 38 points.

A bit of interesting analysis of the voting summary:
  • Teams that the most users picked to win an event often did not meet these expectations: Mira Loma in Trajectory got 2nd (16 votes), Penncrest in Astronomy got 3rd (15 votes), Harriton in Ornithology did not medal (12 votes), Harriton in Fossils did not medal (10 votes), Harriton in Forensics got 6th (10 votes), Ward Melville in Write It Do It did not medal (9 votes), NC School in Egg-O-Naut did not medal (9 votes), Centerville in Dynamic Planet did not medal (9 votes), Troy in Cell Biology got 5th (8 votes), and Centerville in Fossils got 2nd (8 votes).
  • There were 21 teams (9 in C, 12 in B) that won events, but no users picked them to win: Fayetteville-Manlius in Trajectory, Raleigh Charter in Fossils, Harriton in Ecology, New Trier in Cell Biology, New Trier in Chemistry Lab, Parkview in Tech Problem Solving, Bloomington South in Disease Detectives, Poudre in Enviro Chemistry, and Davis in Write It Do It; Gelinas in Compute This, Arendell Parrott in Road Scholar, Solon in Elevated Bridge, Junkyard Challenge, and Wright Stuff, Magsig in Disease Detectives, Strath Haven in Science Crime Busters, Marie Murphy in Bio Process Lab, Fulton in Ornithology, HB duPont in Solar System, Fairfield in Experimental Design, and Ames in Write It Do It.
Currently, only the medal results used to calculate the winners are available, but will be updated when all the official SONT results are posted.

That's interesting - I definitely didn't expect to tie for the win in B. Since I didn't know anything about the current state of each of the really good teams in each event, what I did for each division was to look at the results from the previous three years and see if any schools were consistently strong, with more emphasis placed on last year's result. Perhaps it shouldn't be surprising that I scored almost the same in C as in B. It also isn't surprising that arbitrary selection of winning teams was an equally good strategy, or that the winning scores for B were so low, because middle school tends to be much less predictable and consistently exhibits a lot more parity.

Some selections ended up being way off the mark, as should be expected in a game like this; for example, I selected Troy for Chemistry Lab largely on the basis of their win last year, and they ended up all the way back in 26th. And starpug, evidently aiming for some diversity in his (her?) choices, selected my school for Picture This, but we finished 59th when one of the competitors was lost and another was asleep.

It's hard to accept that for me, there isn't a next year.

I don't think all of those are right. My team medaled in Ecology and CrimeBusters, but did not win.

You're right; there are definitely some errors in B division. My school's middle school team placed fifth in Battery Buggy and third in Shock Value, but those results are entered in different events altogether. Someone probably got off by one line or something.

We should start discussing this, to try to see if someone would be willing to organize this again this year.
