Focus on the future, live in the present, learn from the past. Dwelling on what has already occurred is useless: what is, is. Learn from your mistakes and put the past behind you.

Live for tomorrow: there is no pain too great to bear or that time cannot erase.

Repress your emotion: be logical. Rationality is what separates us from animals. Ignore your instincts: use your mind wisely.

Wait, so if I'm stuck on a boat with only one other person and no food (hypothetically), shouldn't I logically kill and eat him, even if I'm emotionally repelled by the thought of such an action?

Yes, you should if you want to live (and thus succeed)

On the other hand, I beg to differ. Emotion also separates us from animals.

You shouldn't be cannibalistic and eat another person unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

Well with that kind of logic, you could really say "But it's an emergency! I was hungry!", since you're the one deciding if it's absolutely necessary.

Hey! Is this a topic for advice or for discussing the morality of cannibalism?

Follow your instincts, and don't second guess your second guesses.
