Carl Hiaasen is also a great writer- both his kids' books (Hoot, etc) and his adult novels (Lucky You, etc) are really good.

I just realized that I haven't read a book for about a year...
Which is very weird because I did Battle of the Books all through middle school and loved it.

I think I got turned off from books after we lost by one point in the finals and I was the alternate that round. So I couldn't do anything about it.

ugh that would suck....at our school, you're only allowed to do it in 5th and 6th...and i was in 6th when they started it. it was fun, but i wish that i could have been in it longer.

we don't even have it at all in middle school; it's only grades 4 and 5. no matter, i wasn't really into it, but my sister did it.
