49ers, relax. You have five years. Listen to the other people on here. Just because you're smart doesn't mean you'll be accepted everywhere you apply. One of my friends was validictorian (4.0 non-weighted), got a 34 on the ACT, was in NHS, marching band, our highest concert band, captain of the ultimate frisbee team, NHS member, etc. Point is, he was a smart, hard-working, involved student. But you know what? He ended up going to the University of Minnesota. He got wait-listed at an ivy league or two, but realized that the U was WAY cheaper, provided about the same education (ranked 4th in chemical engineering, for those of you who hold your rankings so near and dear), and was a better fit for him.
Just because a university is a "good school" doesn't mean it's a good school for you.

By the way, I'm a senior in high school, and so far, I've applied to Iowa State, and I'm sending in my application to the U of MN sometime this week. I'm pretty clueless as to what I want to do.

Right now, I think that MIT is the best fit for me. However, there's the problem about money and if I actually get accepted, so I'm looking at Drexel, Lehigh, and Penn State as well. Any advice?

PS-I'm looking to go into civil engineering, but I want a school with a strong science and general engineering program just in case I change my mind.

Then I recommend searching for another college.

Maybe give in to a medical degree and settle for Hopkins lax?

You people all make me feel strange for wanting to go into History and Political Science rather than something science related
