How did you get accepted to UPenn but Waitlisted at Northwestern? Nothing against Northwestern (It's a fantastic school), but UPenn is just on a different level... What was going through Norhtwestern's mind?!!paleonaps wrote:So the final results are in:
Accepted:
Columbia
University of Chicago
Brown
University of Pennsylvania
Tufts
Johns Hopkins
Boston College
Stony Brook
University of Maryland - College Park
Northeastern
UCLA
UC Berkeley
University of Vermont
Rejected:
Harvard
Yale
Stanford (I'm going to get flak for this, but I wouldn't have gone even if I had gotten in)
University or Wisonsin-Madison (I forgot to finish my application, so they denied me. I really don't care)
Waitlisted:
Northwestern
So, I'm not sure where I'm going just yet, but I'm probably going to be choosing between Brown, UChicago, and Columbia, unless somewhere else offers me money.
Where are you going for colleges?

Re: Where are you going for colleges?
I'm confused about that myself, but it may have to do with the fact that I rushed the Northwestern application dreadfully. I had only a couple of hours left. I wasn't really thinking of going anyway, so I'm not disappointed at all.thsom wrote: How did you get accepted to UPenn but Waitlisted at Northwestern? I'm probably going into paleontology, but I have a strong interest in psychology and film. Ideally, I'll try to pursue all three, to the extent that I can.caseyotis wrote: Wow, these are some awesome schools! You've got some good Ivy League choices. What are you looking to become?

Thank you so much! And I should make myself clear - Stanford's great. For whatever reason, though, it's never been a top choice of mine.Kokonilly wrote:paleonaps wrote: Stanford (I'm going to get flak for this, but I wouldn't have gone even if I had gotten in)

Re: Where are you going for colleges?
Gratz Napz.
It's looking like Duke or CMU (or tiny, tiny chance of Johns Hopkins) for me--didn't get into any of my top 4 choices (Rejected at MIT, Stanford, and Harvard -____________-)
Although I have a infinitesimal slimmer of hope for the Princeton waitlist to turn out favorable.
Also, in retrospect, I probably should have applied to CalTech.

Re: Where are you going for colleges?
Sorry for the double post, but, just wondering, what are you guys planning on studying (or currently studying if you're already in college)? I'm curious as to whether people are studying things related to what events they've done in Science Olympiad.

Send them updates about what you've done since you'd sent in your app, reaffirm your interest, etc etc. I hear it helps. The Eviscerator wrote:Gratz Napz.

Probably econ with a possible dual in electrical engineering. Not really SciOly based at all.The Eviscerator wrote:Sorry for the double post, but, just wondering, what are you guys planning on studying (or currently studying if you're already in college)? Re: Where are you going for colleges?
I plan to study molecular biology or bioengineering, depending on where I end up going to college. Interestingly, I didn't do any SciOly events directly related to these topics (Microbe Mission or Designer Genes or Anatomy or Protein Modeling, for example). I suppose that Disease Detectives got me interested in toxicology and immunology and stuff like that, even though the event is more epidemiology/public health-focused rather than pathology-focused.The Eviscerator wrote:Sorry for the double post, but, just wondering, what are you guys planning on studying (or currently studying if you're already in college)?
