This was my school’s first time at UT Invite. We had a great time competing, but so far, I’ve found that my team was misplaced for at least 2 events. The first one was Reach for the Stars. The test was great, but when I looked at my placement, I got 20th, even though my score was higher than my school’s B team, and they placed better(18th) :/ Honestly, I think this was a simple mistake, as when they were writing down the total score for my test, they forgot to write the 1 at the front, thus subtracting our score by 100, which they used when being ranked against other teams, but my partner and I are still disgruntled over it.
The second occurrence of misranking was for Experimental Design. It wasn’t my event, but my teammates were upset over their placing. Their score was higher than the B team’s score, but lost to them by over 20 placements.
Overall, had a great time on a cool campus, but was kinda annoyed over those things.
P.S. Dynamic was hard and long, wow, but it was good. We need to study more for it.

What a great event!

I’m blown away that you can get that many college kids up that early on a Saturday to volunteer!

There were some hiccups but I was very very impressed with how they handled them. To me good leadership is really judged by how you handle things going wrong and do you respond in a positive way. Glad we went we learned a ton about the logistics. We had a scoring error in the final sheet to for mousetrap, I’m sure they will get a corrected one out.

Again to be a totally student lead organization that was incredible.

I’m also blown away how the good teams are this good this early in the season!

I agree that the ATX Scioly organization is incredible! Each year they get better and better. Thank you, Aditya, Ashish, and the rest of the group for how easy it was to communicate with you up to and during this tournament and for everything else that you do!
