Re: Indiana 2020
Does anyone have any more information about whether state is cancelled or not? I would have assumed that they would have decided by now.

Thanks for all the fish.
I'll never forget the trials and tribulations the SO brought into my life.
I'm better for it.

Re: Indiana 2020
How would we bring this up to the board. Can you email them or is there another way to suggest this idea.CPScienceDude wrote: ↑March 10th, 2020, 3:27 pmyes, someone needs to make sure someone on their board sees this.l0lit wrote: ↑March 10th, 2020, 3:25 pm- from the Purdue updateA faculty or staff member who believes that they have an essential business reason to hold an event can request a waiver through their unit leader (dean, vice provost, vice president, etc.), but again, the expectation is such waivers will be rare.
If we can convince them an event is extremely important, it could be possible to work around this. I would suggest using techniques that are allowing Northern California and New Jersey to hold their state tournaments, such as: no awards ceremony, supervisors and staff with face masks, ensuring arms length distance between participants, hand sanitizer available at all gathering locations etc. With these changes, it may be possible to pull this off.
I would encourage INSO and the Purdue board to explore these options at least before canceling entirely. Postponing states would also work really well.

Re: Indiana 2020
I trust that the board has already checked this forum and has considered every option possible to keep states going. We can only now wait until they decide to publicize their decision, based on what Purdue/other factors say. If they do have to check with other admins and such, it could very well be until tomorrow.veroniquescioly wrote: ↑March 10th, 2020, 7:08 pm
