That's very interesting, seeing as Churchill hasn't really been making any waves over in CA this year.

Churchill looking strong this year - but Kennedy even more so. It'll definitely be interesting to see how CA does at nats this year.

Centerville Invitational (B/C) this weekend! 50 teams for Div B, 39 teams in Div C.

Division C looks like it’s gonna be the Ohio big 4, two teams each, duking it out with Northville and Pioneer thrown in. I honestly don’t know enough about the midwest region to make accurate predictions here, but I’m hoping we can potentially get top 10 school? We will see lol

Division B field looks extremely strong, with Solon, Daniel Wright, Beckendorff, Tower Heights, Marie Murphy, Meads Mill, OSS, Piedmont, Raymond Park, and more teams, many bringing more than one. Again I don’t know much ab a lot of these teams, but this competition looks reallyyy stacked for div B.

Anyone have any thoughts about the fields, particularly Div C teams that I probably don’t know about since I’m from New York lol? Perhaps I’ll put out legit predictions sometime this week if I do end up doing more research!

Its admittedly been a while since I've been around the Ohio SciOly scene and I dont follow too closely - but if things are similar to when I was around I could guess as to who will do well.

Div C - yeah big 4 are likely gonna be duking it out at this one for sure. As for other strong competitors, I'd say Westlake, DuPont Manual, and Russell are some that typically get good results.

Div B - The only ones that stick out to my memory that you didn't list are the other two Centerville middle schools: Watts and Magsig. Maybe I'm missing some, but you definitely covered a lot of those.

This invitational was always one of my favorites when it was at Wright State, always fun to see such talented teams compete.

First: congratulations are probably in order. The competition this year felt way exciting compared to last year when lots of teams were snowed out. Also, the cursed jeopardy was a fun touch as the pre-awards event.

Second: I won't go down the line for my personal events because overall I felt as though the tournament was run quite well but I'll include some of the more interesting things that I've heard/seen.

- The Astro test was supposedly reused.
- Sounds Pitch Test was supposedly weird. I asked about it here:
itsDerk wrote: February 10th, 2020, 11:20 am At Centerville, the Sounds ES used Audacity to isolate the fundamental frequency with a Fourier transform...
Also, they didn't end up returning score sheets bc pitches were only entered into the spreadsheet which is kind of annoying.
- XPD appeared very tier/multiplier heavy based on the scores. They supposedly asked to do some additional task that was kind of a peculiar addition.
- Protein on-site was supposedly not jmol (even though the section is called like "jmol exploration") rather, it was "exploring" the RCSB PDB website itself, and jmol commands/scripts weren't really a thing that exists on there.

At the end of the day it was kind of funny that they said that results were in 3 minutes before the time indicated for awards on the schedule even though not all of them were in, but I digress, overall a nice competition.

I believe it was some sort of challenge lab scenario which doesn't really fit the description of EXPD? Seemed pretty weird and made for some interesting score distributions.

The same thing happened at the UC competition: for a completely new ES, it could be an honest mistake but hopefully future ES's take care to read the rules, since being restricted to the website definitely limits the range of question types compared to working on the full program.
