The first two have affiliations with the New York Mets and the Oakland Athletics, but the third, the football player, isn't associated with either New York or California. I don't see any connection, unless it's with the general fact that the three of them are sports players.

The officers enter into the backyard where the victim is playing ball with a friend. As he is cheering a home run that he hit moments ago, the Assassinator decides to knock down a tree that was in the center of the lawn. While he enjoys the home run, he trips over a branch and suffers a concussion, leading to his death.

JoeyC has been killed. This will mean an officer needs to be replaced; the first person to PM me their interest wins the spot.

Distraught, the officers try to get over this trauma by remembering that they received a text by this weird person (who would turn out to be the sassy) who pretended to be their Literature Humanities teacher. The text said that a fine place to visit is a university in the Big West Conference and followed by these three schools: New Mexico, Sioux Falls, Arkansas.
