Re: Fermi Question Exchange
Hello again!
We have gotten a bunch of teams to participate, which is great! We would like even more teams to participate in addition to what we currently have. Therefore, we would like teams participating to NOT share these sets of problems NOR to use them as a resource for test trading. We would like our model to be based on "give to receive" which means ideally teams must submit quality questions to gain access to the larger pot. Furthermore, we would like teams participating to take each question seriously and take the practice set as if it were under test conditions. Thus, after each team has concluded the set, we would like them to share with us their score. We will announce the winner of this set as soon as each score is in and we will make a histogram of the raw scores. Finally, we will be making a feedback form as to improve upon this experience. Thank you all so much!
Teams participating as of now:
Montgomery High School
Alumnus
Syosset
Acton-Boxborough Regional High School
Centennial HS
Boca Raton Community High School
Carmel High School
William P. Clements High School
Seven Lakes High School
Harriton High School
Liberal Arts and Sciences Academy
Palo Alto High School

Re: Fermi Question Exchange
Do solutions need to have the work done, or just the numerical solution?
EDIT: NVM, finished all solutions written out anyways. It would still be nice to know the answer for future go-arounds.

Re: Fermi Question Exchange
Hello all!
At 1:00 AM last night we closed submissions for the first round of this Fermi Shareout. For this round we collected tests from 50 teams, totalling nearly 650 questions. We would like to thank every team that participated, whether their test and questions were submitted or not. We are still currently auditing tests and questions (big shoutout to our amazing grad editors!) and will hopefully be releasing tonight.
As a reminder, we would like teams to take the full, formatted practice set as a test. From this, we ask each team to report their score which will be compiled into a histogram, with the winner getting a shoutout. We also strongly ask teams to NOT share these practice sets nor use them as a token in trading. The goal is to get teams of every level involved, as question writing is also a way to prepare for events. Through this, we hope to break 1000 questions submitted and have more teams involved throughout the country.
We will be accepting submissions for the next round of this shareout tonight (new form will be up) with the same format. The deadline will be 3/7/18 (Wednesday), about one and a half weeks away. We hope the extended time will allow teams to write better questions. Therefore, for this next round, auditing will take a little longer and we will expect high level questions. Some questions that ask for simple recall, or questions such as "How many words are on this test set" will be rejected. Teams that fail to reach the 10 question threshold will be notified immediately and with the extended time, will be given pointers on how to improve their test set and we will allow resubmissions. Therefore, we hope teams write about 15 problems at a high level to ensure little resubmissions are needed.
A big shoutout again to our amazing auditors for spending their time going over hundreds of questions. We hope other interested alums will join our auditing team to create a better experience for everyone. Also a HUGE shoutout to Harriton High School, who submitted 50 questions, of which all were high quality and was even in LaTeX form.
Finally, we would like to thank every team that participated:

Re: Fermi Question Exchange
LOL thank you so much! We're incredibly excited on this milestone, and we could not have done anything without the outstanding contributors that submitted tests that were equally impressive, witty, and hilarious. We're looking forward to bigger and better things, so stay tuned!Unome wrote:Congratulations on crowdsourcing 10 hours of questions in 3 days
