Don't be divisive and have this us-vs-them mentality, and then it won't matter who wins.

Entrance/exit polling by the media on election day.

Discuss.

Definitely has an impact. Take 2000 for example. CNN called the election for Gore by as early as 7 PM Eastern Time. That makes it 4 PM in the West Coast...and most people haven't left work to go vote yet.

So if they're seeing the media claim the election is over, are they going to go out and vote if they are told it doesn't matter?

I don't like it for that reason. Showing exit polls is fine, but drawing any conclusions from it should wait until later. Unfortunately, this won't happen, as each channel wants to be the first to "call" the winner.

a word about computernerd's signature: you have to be kidding me if McCain put PEACE on there, isn't it kind of contradicting since he said we're going to be in iraq for about 100 years if needed??

I believe that his "plan" to stay 100 years if needed refers to peaceful occupation by US troops, as in Japan or South Korea. I don't know if that would work or not in Iraq, and I don't know if that is the best plan to follow.

He didn't say 100 years of peacelessness in Iraq. So it's not contradicting.

For example, I'm not American, and I've been staying in America for the past 7 years. Does that mean there hasn't been peace here for 7 years?

------------------------------------------------------------

Btw, someone on some other forums posted a poem that he received in the mail. I think it's extremely funny.

'Twas the night before elections

And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

' On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi'
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!

by saying staying in iraq for 100 years, he's implying violence for that long. I want to know want senator mccain means by peace in the middle east and else where. I'm not getting what you're trying to say about "For example, I'm not American, and I've been staying in America for the past 7 years. Does that mean there hasn't been peace here for 7 years?", I'm not saying you are causing peacelessness (a word?) by being in America, and hopefully i was giving off that vibe.

im not saying anything about that im just saying that there are SOME people out there that will see your differences and use them against you. which is wrong. i mean not matter how amazing and darn tootin' you are some people will always just be all like OH hes different thats bad. you know what i mean? im not saying that anyone here is being like that i just kinda realized that after watching a long thing about "obama binladen" see they use his difference(in this case his name)against him. this applies to mccain to comon' we've all heard of him about to dies of old age or something (see people used his age against him) yes i could've worded that better but i hope this clears it up

~~~on a separate note~~~
