NASA spent 2 million dollars to invent a pen that works in space.(Pens need gravity to pull down the ink)
Do you know what the russians did?
They used a pencil.

It sounds ridiculous, but I read that the Russians then had problems with pencil shavings clogging their air filters.

Because I'm a builder.
"At its heart, engineering is about using science to find creative, practical solutions. It is a noble profession."
-Queen Elizabeth II

This describes us all though:
"People say there's a lot of "unknown" out there, but because of scientists the "unknown" becomes the "known". We're the future that carries on their legacy of exploration and discovery, ingenuity, the thrill of the challenge, the curiosity, the want and need to help others by improving their lives, and the drive to continue making the "unknown" become "known"."
-(I don't know if someone has said this already but it does explain us Science Olympians and our passion to explore the "unknown")
